| 1. Plant sunflowers. Sunflowers attract sweet-singing chickadees...flaming red cardinals...tittering titmice...and rainbow colored buntings. 2. Make Peanut Butter Treats- Your birds will go wacky. Recipe: Stir 1/2 cup of peanut butter with two cups of uncooked rollecd oats or cornmeal. 3. Keep your birds happy all year long: Spring: Help your bird friends build a cozy nest by draping short length of strings over shrubs, and scatter white feathers, dog or cat combings, dryer lint or other soft material. Summer: Give your birdie friends some suet. Nestlings love the softer food. Fall: Keep your feeders stocked with a variety of food. Make sure Mealie Moths do not make their home in your food by keeping it in a tightly closed container. Winter: Recycle your Christmas tree as a bird shelter. It'll keep juncos and sparrows snug during storms and on chilly nights. 4. Keep your super soaker handy to scare away those wild cats! |
